During this time that we are temporarily closed to the public, we are still accepting artifact donations.  Please call 717-225-0732 and leave a message.

Volunteer, Artifact Donation & Financial Support

We engage visitors through interesting programming and community-relevant artifacts.  We are working to digitalize our archives, which once completed will be available to the public for research.  As artifacts age, constant attention must be given to preserve and when important artifacts are past preserving, a Conservator must become involved.

As we evolve to continue to serve the Spring Grove area community and further our mission of preserving the history for future generations, we need community support.  We appreciate you!

Ways that you can donate to the Society

Artifacts

What happens when I donate an artifact? When a donor offers an artifact to our society a few things will initially take place. We’re going to ask them questions about the item and its history, which adds to its historic importance. We’re going to explain how we handle incoming artifact donations, what happens if we have duplicate items, and we’re going to give them our “Deed of Gift” form to read and complete.

What is the Deed of Gift form?
A Deed of Gift is a two-page document showing that ownership of an artifact is being transferred to the Spring Grove Area Historical Preservation Society without conditions and without an exchange of compensation. The first page of the document is a form where your name, contact information, and artifact information will be entered. We’ll ask you to sign and date the form, and a representative of our society will do the same. The second page contains the details of our Deed of Gift.

The SGAHPS is a living institution and must change with time. With this fact in mind, we strongly urge that donations be made free of any trust, obligation, or condition of any character. Because of the inevitable damage caused by ultraviolet radiation, heat, and humidity that affects artifacts or specimens on exhibit, these items are routinely rotated from exhibit to controlled storage conditions. For this reason, there can be no guarantee that any item will be displayed at any one time or that any item will remain on exhibit permanently.

The Spring Grove Area Historical Preservation Society thanks you for your donation.
